8 TIPS FOR MAKING THE MOST OF 2018

I have to admit , 2017 became a routine of bad habits and I turned into someone I couldn't even notice. I became a new version of myself that I did not really like.  I was unmotivated, unorganized and unhealthy.   I began to struggle with who I was, what inspired me and what motivated in the bigger picture.

I was never really into resolutions because I thought they were silly but I think thats only because I never needed them as much as I do now.  I was lost and I knew deep down, under those layers the real me was ready to come out.

I decided I would start 2018 on a positive note, a refresh, a new start because if there was anytime to do it, it was now!   Life is a journey and it's never too late to hit the refresh button.

So I'm here to inspire you to start today - I've gathered these tips for you, to make the best of 2018. lets do it together and become better versions of ourselves.

8 TIPS FOR MAKING THE MOST OF 2018

1. WAKE UP EARLY :

I use to be the queen of waking up early, granted our apartment filled with sunlight early, so a 5:45 am wake up time was easy! These days, not so much, especially in the winter!  I'm not good at this and still haven't even gotten close to waking up early. Our wake up time currently is somewhere between 7:00 - 8:00, really, whenever Cameron gets up. As a stay at home mom, this can become an easy habit to fall into.

However, starting your day early will get you excited for the day and feel more energized. I think as a mother it is important to have that moment alone before the chaos. I always said, I'd love to drink a cup of coffee before Cameron wakes up.  Setting an early alarm for me, 6:00 AM, will give me the time to enjoy my quiet time, organize my plans for the day and be ready to be a happy and most importantly,  hands on mom when Cameron awakes.

2. ORGANIZING MY DAILY PLANS :

This is very important, Last year, I found myself living my days hour to hour. I didn't have a set schedule, which is very strange for me. I am a planner, I like to have a plan for basically everything and somehow the most important thing my daily life schedule was put on the back burner.

It is important to start your day by visualize your day!
  • What do you want to accomplish today
  • What are some goals you have for youself
  • Do you have a todo list
  • Can you better yourself from yesterday
If you can see it, you can do it . This will keep you motivated, help you feel focused and feeling less stressed. So over that morning coffee plan your day out, this way you go can about a stress free day.

3. PLAN YOUR MEALS :

If you follow me on Instagram, I've been talking about meal planning. Sure I have a goal of getting fit and would love to tone up a bit, but my meal planning isn't for that reason alone. Last year I found that I wasn't eating healthy or barely eating. I was rushing around during the day and when I was finally hungry I would eat whatever I could get my hands on, most of the time it wasn't healthy.

I love healthy food, I enjoy vegetables and eating light so that wasn't the problem, the problem was being unorganized when it came to my meals and diet. Planning my meals was a very important thing for me to start my new year with.

I decided that on Sundays, I would plan our week of foods. Sunday I will do a grocery hall for all of my recipes for our breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in between and do as much of the prep for the week ahead.

By getting everything done prior to the week starting, this allows me to be less stressed and allows me to focus on eat healthy well balanced meals.

4. FIND TIME FOR ACTIVITY

Working out and being activity always puts me into the right mind set. I always feel motivated and positive positive! I lost myself last year and became so lazy, I felt very low, had high anxiety and at times felt depressed. I was in a really bad head space and I knew this was all because I wasn't working out.

This year I started spinning again. But you can do any activity that you enjoy! Find whatever makes you happy: Dancing, yoga, running, bootcamp or a long walk.

Exercising releases happy endorphins, allowing you to have a positive attitude. I find that I am in a better headspace for the rest of the day after great work out!

5. MAKE TIME TO REST AND RECHARGE (NO ELECTRONICS)

I have always found the time to rest, with an early bed time. I enjoy getting into bed early, letting my body rest and getting a good nights sleep. My body has become so programed because an early bed time has become a routine. I am able to fall asleep quickly and I am able to sleep deeper and longer, feeling more energized in the morning.

One thing that is very important, is to find time in your day to put those electronics down. No cellphone, no computers, no tablets. Disconnect - use that time to be fully committed to something else. playing with your kids, cooking, reading a book or doing an activity. It feels nice to be in the moment - I need more of that, this year !

6. DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY

Find the time to do what makes you happy! I can't stress this enough..  It's so easy to get caught up in your everyday life. Whether you're stuck in your daily routine of work or mom life , it is so easy to lose sight of the things that make you happy. I know the day to day can be busy and at times hectic that it may seem impossible to find the time do those things that bring joy to your life.

I started this blog because I was getting lost in motherhood and losing myself. This blog is my outlet my creative space, it is my enjoyment. I make sure to find the time everyday to be able to blog. Without it I would be lost.

7. BE POSITIVE

Approach every situation positively. I struggled last year with looking at things negatively - of course, I mentioned above, I wasn't really in a good mindset. I thought everyone was out to get me, I was dealt the wrong cards etc . It is so important to look at everything and think about the good in everyone and every situation.

Maybe you didn't get that job you worked your ass off for and you so deserved. Sure it may seem hard to understand it in the moment, but everything happens for a reason. Just think, there is something bigger and better waiting for you. A good exercise : when you're feeling negative about a situation, stop and try and find one thing positive.

This may not be easy but the more you practice the easier it will be come and soon enough a positive outlook on life will become second nature.

8. SPREAD LOVE

There is too much hate in this world we live in and it's so much easier to love and spread kindness than hate.  Smile at a stranger, lend a helping hand, do something for someone, give back.  Be genuine and giving - The more love your spread, the more love that will come your way !

Remember, now is the time to start living a happier, more positive life - now is the time to restart yourself and make the most of your life!
